Gastric Cancer
Gastric cancer (stomach cancer), develops when gastric cells divide in an uncontrolled fashion and invade the muscular stomach wall. Spread can take place directly to surrounding organs or via the lymph to lymph nodes or via the blood to distant organs such as the liver or lungs. Surgery is the most common treatment modality. Part or all of the stomach, as well as the surrounding lymph nodes is removed. The aim is to remove all cancer with a margin of normal tissue.
