Skin Cancer
Skin cancers are caused by the uncontrolled growth of the various types of cell that make up the skin. The three most common skin cancers are basal cell cancer, squamous cell cancer and melanoma. Skin cancer generally develops in the outermost layer of the skin. It is therefore possible to detect skin cancers at an early stage. Unlike many other cancers, only a small minority of those affected will actually die of the disease. Melanoma survival rates are lower than for non-melanoma skin cancer.
